Autumn Raine is a pop vocalist at the very top of her game. She’s a style icon, the paparazzi’s darling and everyone wants to be her friend. But when her safety is threatened, her whole life starts to unravel.

Enter Nathan Regan, an ex-elite soldier who is assigned to protect her. He’s a good man doing bad things but what drives him? Passion? Madness? Or grief? Demons from his past are threatening to consume him. Can he win the fight alone or will he have to admit he needs help?

As the threat deepens, Autumn starts to find out who she really needs in her life. Is there still room for personal assistant Janey or rapper boyfriend Rockweiler? When everyone around her is feeding her lies, how does she work out the truth? Does her record producer know more than he’s letting on? What is her mother, the British Foreign Secretary’s involvement in the situation? And can Autumn put her faith in a forty-something Jamaican woman who handles an automatic weapon as expertly as she cooks?

Eluding kidnap and trying to stay alive, can Autumn find the strength to be the person she longs to be? And can two people, poles apart, forge something strong enough to survive anything?

Today, Mandy and I are asking, what makes you feel safe/comfortable/secure? Here are my thoughts…

Interestingly, old movies make me feel safe and secure! Whenever I’m upset or nervous, I find that curling up under the covers and watching an old (preferably romantic) black and white movie circa 1930s to 1950s calms me down like a cinematic sedative. And in a more conventional form of security, if my husband is away, then being home and cozy with my cats—with my trusty burglar alarm set—makes me feel secure, too!

To be in with a chance to win an e-copy of Security, leave a comment and your email address and let me know what makes you feel secure? Could it be knowing you have that secret stash of chocolate hidden away or perhaps you have a favourite piece of music that wraps you up like a blanket! Get commenting to win! Closing date 30 April 2013.

    Hi Bonnie

Thank you so much for hosting me and Security today. I have a security thing about my pillow! I am a bit of a smell person – and my pillow smelling of my home and me always makes me feel comfortable and that much more ready for sleep.

  2. Sheryl Browne Says:

Ooh, I agree. I adore black and white movies (or the idea of), curled up in front of the TV – particularly on a Sunday afternoon. Perhaps it’s a memory of childhood thing. Thanks for sharing, Bonnie! 🙂 xx

  3. Linn B Halton Says:

Well the photos sizzle Mandy – with a cast like that I’m sure Security is going to be an amazing hit! I can’t wait to read it – have loved ALL of your books!

  4. Emerald Barnes Says:

Locked doors make me feel safe. 😉 lol

But a blanket in the middle of the night, really. 🙂

  5. Nicky Wells Says:

Getting all nostalgic here. There’s something about black and white films that just appeals. And the pace and rhythm of the story is different too ~ there’s a lot to be said for the old-fashioned ways, methinks. Awesome post, great tour, thanks for hosting this stop, Bonnie!
